The building is located in a plot full of contradictions: both want to enjoy the landscape but also avoid the sun, both want to be light body but also consider the structure, both want to keep mysterious but also must be practical, both want to connect with the environment but also maintain privacy, both want to last but also surprise. It is these contradictions that provide inspiration for the design of this lake view residence.
On the west side of the building is an unparalleled view of the Colorado River and bright leaf nature reserve. This family of four not only hopes to live leisurely in this flourishing mature oak forest and care, but also hopes to build a strong atmosphere through the building. The new residence focuses on vision and dynamic spatial sequence, and creates an abstract background for the light, environment and landscape full of surprises.
When tourists arrive, they will enter the space sequence composed of the winding limestone path, the verdant vertical cypress trees and the green grassland under the towering trees. You never know what a panorama looks like until it's revealed a little bit - a carefully framed view that makes visitors look forward to, and then makes new discoveries.
The relaxed roof plane provides a reflective surface, and what connects the interior and exterior is the ingenious glass curtain wall highlighted by a huge glass corner, which makes the whole building have a sense of extension. In the interior, palette like materials, furniture and delicate cabinets surround the delicate feeling. The design of the house meets the needs of the active family. The spacious meeting space interweaves with each other, providing a suitable environment for entertainment and family gatherings, while the small space provides a place for more intimate gatherings.
The 19th century Persian carpets, classical and contemporary furniture in the room, as well as the medieval collections, sculptures and paintings from the local area, become the visual attraction of the omnipresent exquisite scenery in the building. An orange / blue floor seems to run through the whole house, and in turn, it sets off with our specially designed supporting furniture, such as a huge cutlery cabinet made of walnut wood board, or an old bookshelf with unique patterns standing side by side.
The location of trees in the lake view residence has become a landscape that can not be ignored, which also largely determines the form of residence. Interaction of trees, landscape and Architecture: the ubiquitous ceiling plane gives way to oak trees arranged in a curved way. The foundation spans the root system. Water can penetrate into the open platform to protect the root system of trees and make the project full of open and private landscape everywhere. When you step into the gate, the first glimpse of the house indicates other landscapes. The glass windows extended inside the building form an open pattern with the outside, while the building roof extends outwards to avoid the sun and form a sense of integrity inside and outside the building.
The residence is facing the best direction, cross ventilation and avoid the sun, but at the same time, it can enjoy the westward view. The lake house also uses the geothermal HVAC system, photovoltaic array, TPO reflective roof, honeycomb foam insulation materials and electric water heaters. The whole building adopts FSC certified timber. The house also takes advantage of the canopy to provide additional shadows and carefully arranged skylights to introduce diffused natural light into the interior to reduce dependence on electric lights. In addition, the focus on living and working at home further highlights the owners' commitment to a sustainable lifestyle.
